Here you can find all the information to visit Santa Maria Novella. A unique entrance for an amazing experience!

Since 2012 you can visit the entire complex of Santa Maria Novella, thanks to an agreement between the Fund for Religious Buildings and the City of Florence. The visit includes access to:

Basilica of Santa Maria Novella. You can visit the church in its entirety, including the frescoed chapels, the sacristy and Avelli cemetery. Highlights: Masaccio’s Trinity, Giotto’s crucifix, Brunelleschi’s crucifix, Cappella Tornabuoni (painted by Ghirlandaio), frescoes by Filippino Lippi, Nardo di Cione, Piero da Miniato and Botticelli to name a few…

Museum of Santa Maria Novella: the entry includes access to the Cloister of the Dead, the famous Green Cloister, the Spanish Chapel, the Ubriachi Chapel and the Refectory.

This makes it possible to visit all areas of the monumental recovering historical artistic unity that characterizes this extraordinary place.

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE

THE BASILICA REMAINS ALWAYS OPEN FOR PERSONAL PRAYER AND DURING RELIGIOUS FUNCTIONS.

Starting 10 May, 2021, you’ll be able to purchase your ticket for the basilica complex. Tickets can be purchased without booking, at the basilica ticket office on the day of the visit. At the moment, those who wish to book must purchase tickets on the Museo di Santa Maria Novella website.

The passage for visitors between the basilica and the civic museum will be allowed until 5 pm on both sides of the journey. Therefore, after this time it will not be possible to pass from the Basilica to the Civic Museum and vice versa.

Public holidays follow the time of day in which they occur; the eves of religious holidays follow the Saturday timetable. Religious holidays follow the Sunday schedule.

The ticket office is open all day.

Last admission for the Santa Maria Novella Complex (Basilica+Museum+Cloisters) one hour before closing time (usually last admission at 4.30pm).

Last admission to the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella half an hour before closing time (usually last admission at 17:00).

Closed to visitors: Good Friday (April 7, 2023) and Holy Saturday (April 8, 2023).

RULES FOR GROUPS AND GUIDED TOURS

Groups up to 15 people + 1 guide are allowed inside. From 6 people onwards, earphones are mandatory.
