An amazing concert of the Italian Brass Week in the eighth centenary of the foundation of the Dominican Community of Santa Maria Novella

At 9.30 pm the Basilica of Santa Maria Novella will be the location of the Inauguration Concert of the Festival entitled 'And so we went out to see the stars again ...'.

Maestro Daniele Dori on organ will accompany the soloists of the Festival: Luca Benucci and Matias Piñeira on horn, Vincent Lepape and Zoltan Kiss on trombone, Ruben Simeo and Andrea Dell'Ita on trumpet, Luciano De Luca on euphonium, Alessandro Fossi Roland Szentpali and Øystein Baadsvik at the tuba, international soloists and teachers and members of the most prestigious universities, conservatories and orchestras, from Indiana University, to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, from the Muñchener Philharmoniker to the Franz Liszt Academy, from the Orchestra of the Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino to the Band Music of the State Police.

An intense musical journey that from Hell will rise to Dante's Paradise, touching the most famous and evocative pages written and dedicated to brass and characters frescoed by Nardo di Cione. The interpreted passages will intertwine with the architecture of the Basilica, as well as with the homages of the Florentine painter to the three Dante canticles of the Divine Comedy.

The music of Alessandro Marcello, Giulio Caccini, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Luigi Boccherini, George Philipp Telemann, Giuseppe Tartini, Benedetto Marcello, Johann Sebastian Bach, Carl Maria von Weber, Nicola Antonio Zingarelli, Franz Schubert will be the soundtrack of the evening which, besides to pay homage to Dante, it is part of the program of celebrations for the 800th anniversary of the foundation of the Dominican Community of Santa Maria Novella, curated by the Convent and the Opera of Santa Maria Novella.
